COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM:
Any
project that improves the lives of one or more of its
neighbors can be considered as a community improvement
project. These projects provide limitless opportunities to
increase your club’s membership, develop leadership skills
and create a positive public awareness of your club’s
activities. Monetary awards are given during the even
numbered years for the top 3 projects in the nation. For

ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN - GFWC JUNIOR SPECIAL PROJECT:
Any
project related to children or youth that makes a difference
in their lives can be considered an Advocates for Children
project. Projects related to children and youth, such as
scholarships, literacy programs, involvement with issues
affecting children would be reported in this area. All
clubs can participate, you don’t need to be a Junior Club.
The world’s most precious resource is our children -- to be
cherished and allowed to live healthy, safe, strong and
free.

LIBRARIES 2000 AND BEYOND:
GFWC’s commitment to America’s Promise was to donate $12.5
million in books and materials to public school libraries
and public libraries. We are only $2.2 million away from
that goal. GFWC is credited with establishing 75 percent of
the public libraries in the United States and we will
continue to support libraries as major area of emphasis for
our club work.

FUND - RAISING:
The
purpose of the GFWC Fund-raising Program is to support
clubs’ fund-raising efforts by providing tools, projects,
ideas and opportunities through the use of endorsed
fund-raisers that will generate revenue for their local
programs/projects. The endorsed fund-raisers include
Innisbrook Wraps and Uncle Al’s Pecans. GFWC Materials
Center also has a new Guide to Successful Fund-raising
available to clubs.

LEGISLATION / PUBLIC
POLICY:
The
purpose of the GFWC Public Policy and Advocacy Program is to
engage, educate and mobilize clubwomen as advocates for the
Federation’s public policy priorities. Clubwomen are
challenged to facilitate GFWC’s impact on public policy at
the local, state and federal levels by going from helpless
headline readers to informed advocates willing and able to
make a difference.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:
The
purpose of GFWC’s Public Relations Program is to strengthen
members’ communication skills by providing tools and project
ideas that will assist in creating a positive and
contemporary image of the organization on the local, state
and national levels.

necessary tools to strengthen existing leadership and
encourage future leaders.

1734 SOCIETY:
To ensure
the preservation of GFWC’s International Headquarters as a
National Historic Landmark in Washington, DC, a fund was set
up to help with maintenance and preservation costs. Annual
contributions in the amounts of $17.34, $173.40 or $1734.00
or more will entitle the donor to specific levels of
membership in the 1734 Society.

RESOLUTIONS:
The
purpose of the GFWC’s Resolutions is to provide a source of
GFWC legislative activity. GFWC resolutions reflect the
shared beliefs of the membership and proved the basis for
legislative action on issues of importance on the national
and or international level.

GFWC CLUBWOMAN MAGAZINE:
This
quarterly magazine is designed to educate readers about
vital issues affecting women and children while promoting
the Federation’s programs and fostering communication among
its members. Convention registration, department updates,
club news and membership ideas are only a few of things you
will find in this worthwhile publication. A 1 year
subscription is $6.00, but if your entire club subscribes,
you get a discounted rate of $4.75. Each club president
will receive complimentary issues to share with her club
during her administration.

GFWC
WOMEN'S HISTORY AND RESOURCE CENTER (WHRC):
The
purpose of the GFWC Women’s History and Resource Center is
to collect and preserve materials and information on women
in volunteerism, both historical and contemporary, and to
share those resources with researchers. State federations
and local clubs are encouraged to preserve their historical
records and to make those resources available for research.
