ART DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to stimulate the
artistic interests of GFWC members with participation in
arts and sculpture preservation; disabilities and the arts;
and various contests including Photography, Painting, Quilt,
Short Story, Drama and Poetry.

CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to increase
awareness of important issues like beautification of local
communities, conserving America’s natural resources,
preserving our national parks and observing days that
commemorate conservation activities. Projects would include
working with the Humane Society, National Wildlife
Federation, National Parks and Conservation Association,
Audubon Society, and Keep America Beautiful.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to increase
awareness of low literacy rates and the problems it causes;
the need for mentoring; the plight of those with learning
disabilities; the need for leadership skills and the value
of supporting our libraries. Programs include the Hugh
O’Brian Youth Leadership, the ESO reading program,
Adopt-A-Library, Reading is Fundamental and Literacy
Volunteers of America.

HOME LIFE DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to increase
awareness of important issues, including women’s health,
women’s economic security and programs that improve the
lives of people with disabilities. This includes working
with Canine Companions of Independence, March of Dimes,
Easter Seals and Habitat for Humanity.

INTERNATIONAL
AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to increase
awareness of the importance of the United Nations,
international exchange and development programs, and
international aid and relief organizations. Programs include
Cultural Exchange, American Field Service, Care, Childreach
and Operation Smile.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT:
Activities in this department are designed to increase
awareness of crime prevention, safety, assisting veterans
and the importance of good citizenship. This department
works closely with the WWII Memorial Campaign, Women in
Military Service, Veterans Affairs, National Crime
Prevention Council, National Safe Kids Campaign, National
Fire Protection Association and the National Safety Council.
